Craft Lake City DIY Festival 2014

The family and I had a wonderful time on Saturday at the Craft Lake City DIY Festival. We met some amazing people who make incredible stuff and we made some new friends.  Salt Lake City is truly a city full of talented people who have a passion for art, music, food, technology, and engineering. The festival had hundreds of exhibitors covering everything from wood block art, to pedal powered milling, to robotics. Oh, and the food, fantastic! Great food trucks to choose from. Add in two stages and dozens of bands, it can’t get any better!

Teaching kids to solder – Awesome!

In the technology area I met the folks from Salt Lake’s new Makerspace, Make Salt Lake. I also met Wayne and his family from The Educated Robot. Nothing is more exciting to me than to see someone building a business that helps and inspires others, especially children. Wayne is doing just that. If you haven’t yet, go check out the Educated Robot. The most recent issue of Forbes billed Salt Lake City as the number 8 best U.S. city for business. I think if they add a dimension that accounts for the amount of talented artists, crafters, engineers, and makers who are innovating here Salt Lake, then Salt Lake would be the number one city.
